Organised Noise bringing the finest music from every corner of the world to Scotland
It's been a while since we've been in touch and it's been quite a quiet year for us, but we have one more brilliant show for you before the new year... It's something a little bit different, but then you're people with broad musical minds and it is one that really fits with our aim of bringing the best music from every corner of the world to Scotland. It's in just ten days time but I hope like me you'll be enchanted by Aaron & Ed's playing and will be along supporting this show.
Aaron Jonah Lewis An Evening of
Ed Hicks & Rosalind Masson Appalachian Music & Dance
Wednesday 23 November - Stereo 20-28 Renfield Lane Glasgow - Doors 8pm - Tickets £7
Multiple award-winning Appalachian fiddler & banjo-player extraordinaire, Aaron Jonah Lewis, is well-known for taking audiences by storm both here in the UK and in the USA - familiar to some with his neo-bluegrass band The Hotseats, and Special Ed and the Short Bus - Aaron is rapidly becoming an iconic performer, not just on account of his virtuosity but because of his rapport with his audience. Skills in abundance, passion and presence. All that then in addition, charisma, pure creativity and SOUL. Aaron's renditions of old time and appalachian songs and tunes will capture you.
He has performed internationally all across Europe (Holland, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Norway, Romania, Ireland) and at prestigious venues across the UK (everywhere from The Barbican Centre to Glastonbury Festival).
This is second time Aaron has teamed up with leading British banjo player Ed Hicks. If you don't know him already Ed is a banjo player, songster, irreverent folk-activist and performer. Considered to be one of the leading players of his generation. The combination of Ed's skills and his archival knowledge of banjo music, in particular Appalachian and Old Time, means he is a teacher in huge demand. Ed's Banjo workshops for the EDFSS have a cult status. and played banjo everywhere from a Transylvanian Carrefour to a cockney gypsy gangster’s funeral in Essex.
Ed & Aaron will be joined for the Glasgow show by local artist, choreographer and performer, Rosalind Masson who will be demonstrating some Appalachian flatfooting.
